Dhaka University Photographic Society aims to connect enthusiastic young generation into the art of photography. One of the regular activities of DUPS is to train interested ones through a proper guideline.
A camera isn’t mandatory here, only one thing is mandatory- One’s Passion. A group of expert trainer coordinate the whole program. After successful completion of the program a trainee will receive a certificate.

World Photography Day originates from the invention of the daguerreotype, a photographic processes developed by Louis Daguerre. On August 19, 1839, the French government announced the invention as a gift free to the world. Since then 19 August has been celebrating as world photography day.

Dhaka university photographic society and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy are jointly going to organize the 4th national photography festival 2017. Photography competition and exhibition are the main attraction of this festival. The exhibition will be held from 29 July to 31 July 2017 in gallery no. 6 of Jatiya Chitrashala, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. This exhibition is open for all.
In this exhibition, 111 single photographs of the young photographers of different schools, colleges, universities and also professional or freelancer photographers will be exhibited. There will be 3 different photo stories too.
This festival will be started with a grand rally at 10am on 29th July in TSC. Honorable Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University AAMS Arefin Siddique will be present there. The inauguration and the prize giving ceremony both will be held in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Asaduzzaman Noor MP- Honorable Cultural Ministry, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, will be present as our Chief Guest in this program.
The Closing Ceremony will be held on 31st July. Dhaka University Photographic Society will honor the respected portrait photographer Nasir Al- Mamun with Lifetime Achievement Award on that day. His biography and eight of his photographs will be exhibited on the festival.
